Toyota Hydrogen Car for 2015
“We have to get Back TO THE Future!” In the year 2015, we may not have flying cars, Jaws 19 or Griff Tannen to deal with – but we will have hydrogen vehicles form Toyota. Honda made the first splash into Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles last year with their FCX-Clarity sedan. Toyota is now going to take it into the future with their announcement that production-ready hydrogen vehicle will hit the road by “2015 or maybe sooner.”

This came on the heels of a little press and alternative fuel experiment – when a Toyota Highlander fuel-cell vehicle completed a 350 mile trip from Osaka to Tokyo without refueling. According to John Hanson, Toyota’s environmental spokesman; “We think the technology has been achieved. Now we have to reduce the costs and we think that under our present development program we will have done that by 2015.”

The public also has to be ready for hydrogen fueled vehicles – there are fewer than 100 hydro-fueling stations throughout North America, located mostly on the coasts. We also have to cut our dependency on “safe” fuels, as in us being used to them, such as gasoline. But with petrol going back up to $3 a gallon again we may soon be looking for other ways to power our rides.
